About

Hi Everyone, my name is Chris Chaney and this is my golf blog. The plan for this blog is to do a lot of different things all based around the wonderful game of golf.

A little bit about me. I’m a 24-year-old guy from Cincinnati, OH. I’ve played golf, both competitively and  for fun, since I could stand. I had one of those Fischer Price golf sets as soon as I could hold a club and have been a huge fan ever since. I played in a bunch of junior events around the Greater Cincinnati Area and even won a couple, including the City Junior Open, even though I don’t have a trophy to show for it because my cousin lost it.

I played golf for four years at Elder High School and loved it, but one thing that I always enjoyed, and had a relatively easy time doing, was writing; both for school and pleasure.

During my junior year at Elder, I began taking journalism class and really enjoyed it. So much so that I decided that’s what I wanted to for a living. Naturally, the next step was to go on to a well-respected J-school. That’s where Ohio University’s EW Scripps School of Journalism came in. I spent three and a half years in Athens doing the student grind before graduating with a Bachelors in Journalism as well as a History minor (just because).

I currently work at the Clermont Sun, a weekly newspaper in Batavia, Ohio where I focus primarily on high school sports. You can read my work for the paper here.

As you can see from the picture above, I had the great opportunity to travel to Scotland in the summer of 2009 for the trip of a lifetime. I kept a travel log, if you want to call it that, which you can find on this site under the Scotland Trip tab. It was this through this trip that becoming a golf journalist became my main passion.

Before the trip, my passion for sports was all encompassing. It still is, really, but golf is my main love and this blog will be my way to fulfill that passion.

I have been lucky enough to play and visit some of the best courses in the world including the Old Course at St. Andrews, Carnoustie, Royal Aberdeen, Augusta National, Murfield Village Cruden Bay, Royal Dornoch and many more. I hope to use my insight and resources to bring you some of the breaking news around the world of golf.

I’m in the process of networking with some of the people I look up to the most in the business and hopefully will get some advice on how to make this the best site it can be. But I also want to hear from the people reading, so if you have any questions for me, please feel free to email me or leave a comment in the comments section. You can follow me on Twitter, too, so do yourself a favor and do that.
